Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become an integral part of our society. All the aspects of our business applications and process are influenced by the ICT. It has been a compulsory part of our education system. Nepal government has introduced the computer science subject in classes XI and XII for the fulfillment of the necessity of IT education.  This textbook is specially designed to meet the course requirement of Grade XI at HSEB .The book provides a comprehensive and balanced coverage at the HSEB syllabus. Chapter one is related to the computer system. It includes basic concept of computer, its applications, brief history of computer, types of computers, architectural structure, input and output system of computer  etc.

Chapter two is related to Number System and Boolean Logic. It includes the concepts of number system, types of numbers system, inter-conversions between the number system, logic gate and Boolean algebra etc.

Chapter three is related to Computer Software and Operating System. It includes the concept of software, types of software, concept of operating system, role and types of OS and open source code and mobile OS etc.

Chapter four is related to Application Package. It includes the concept of MS Office, business applications and operating steps of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Power point etc.

Chapter five is related to Programming Concepts & Logic’s. It includes the concept of programming languages, types of programming languages, program presentation tools and technique, C programming etc.

Chapter six is related to Web Technology. It includes the concept of web-pages, web-page development process, content management system, HTML, Java script and CSS etc.

Chapter seven is related to Multimedia. It includes the concept of multimedia, components of multimedia, applications of multimedia, computer animations and its applications etc.

Chapter eight is related to Information Security and Cyber Law. It includes the basic concept of digital society, computer ethics, cyber-crime, information security management etc.
